Cas has a congenital heart disease from the day he was born. He lives a normal life guided with medical care for most of his life and meets Dean in university, who is stumbling on his pre-med anatomy and physiology courses and is need of a tutor. Cas comes in, an art major tutoring in science classes, and Dean’s like “What the fuck?” They become friends, and then lovers, then an massive drift that wrenches them in different directions. Seven years later, Dean’s working in NY Langone Hospital in the emergency department when he hears a happy, familiar voice just beyond one of the bed’s curtains. It begins again.

Cas dies in the future like a slow burn, but in the end he does so like a star going supernova.
