Hi sweetie! First of all, thank you so much for you kind words. :) This is an amazing, amazing question. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to answer it.
To be honest, I was placed under familial pressure to enter the medical field for financial reasons. There is stability in nursing or medicine or pharmacy because people is in a constant state of health and unhealth, and sometimes I wonder what my trajectory would have been if I was in creative writing or graphic design instead, and I’m sure I’d have the time of my life.
But the thing is, perspective! I say this with all the happiness in the world, because the sciences gave me such an amazing and different perspective of the world. Medicine is horrible if you look at it in a way that is formally structured; myocardium, periosteum, ventricular arrhythmia metoprolol naproxen abdominal resection cranial nerves I II II IV V–it’s ridiculous. But when you think about it a way that is different–only 1 percent of your heart cells regenerate by mid adulthood and it decreases there after, meaning the heart you have right now is the same heart you will have until you die. You have enough electrical impulse in your brain to power a small light bulb. You have to traverse 2,792 miles to go from New York to Los Angeles; inside you there are 100,000 miles of blood vessels. You are able to distinguish ten million different colors with the mere two different types of photoreceptors in your retina. Underneath your skin, a million different microscopic motions must be performed by the smallest parts of your body for you to be sitting right here, breathing–proving that you shouldn’t tell yourself you can never do anything right, because with in you, a million things just did.
Perspective is why I decided to stay. Finding artistry in places where people think there is absolutely no room for it. Not giving up a passion for the arts, but simply adding onto it and burgeoning it into something more. And I’m truly, truly happy with my choices now. :)
